Just like human beings, dogs can suffer from a wide range of diseases. Most of the times dogs encounter problems with their joints, bones, eyes or nervous system. Dogs can also develop health issues that are more difficult.
Sometimes dogs eat grass when they have pain in their stomach. As soon as they start eating the grass they will feel better. They find this as a natural remedy for their problems. Sometimes dogs eat grass when they did not get enough vegetables through their meals. That is when you know you should bring more vegetables into the diet.
There are no particular diseases that affect small dogs. But still some diseases may seem more challenging for the smaller dogs.
Teeth / Gum Problems
Usually smaller dogs tend to develop teeth problems that can even lead to teeth loss. This is because the small dogs like to chew on things and they also prefer canned food and not crunchier food. But the big concern is not the loss of one tooth but the complications and infections that can appear with it. It can really compromise the immune system and lead to trouble.
Just like humans or other animals, dogs are also susceptible to diseases. There are many dog owners that hate to see their pets suffering. Usually when the dog gets old, problems appear. Around 10 years dogs tend to develop serious health problems.

This type of infection is highly contagious and it affects a lot of dogs. This virus causes death. Parvovirus, along with Canine Distemper, is one of the most feared that affects the canine population. It was first spotted out in the 19th century.
Now it has spread all over the world and many dogs contract it. It is said that the disease was a mutation from the Feline Panlencopaenia virus – Distemper in cats.

Glaucoma is one important eye problem that can cause serious problems for humans and also for dogs. Glaucoma happens when the eye gets a higher intraocular eye pressure. The fluid that exists in the eyes has a well defined shape.
In humans epilepsy is a serious condition. So is for the dogs. They have this disease also and they can find it difficult to deal with. Epileptic seizures can appear. Usually the dogs that are between 1 and 3 years tend to develop this problem more often. It is a serious illness and it must be treated as such.
Anemia in dogs is a common thing, just like in humans. Sometimes it is very hard to diagnose it. Anemia is not severe unless it is properly controlled. If it is left out of hand, it can cause death.
