The term “Super-Duplex” refers to a highly alloyed, high-performance Duplex steel with a pitting resistance equivalent of >40 (based on Chromium% + 3.3 Molybdenum% + 16 Nitrogen%). Super Duplex Steel Fasteners provide excellent resistance to acids, acid chlorides, caustic solutions, and other environments in the chemical/petrochemical, pulp, and paper industries, and are frequently used to replace stainless steel 300 series, high nickel super austenitic steels, and nickel-based alloys due to their high chromium content.

These Super Duplex 2507 Fasteners are extremely strong and resistant to pitting, crevice corrosion, and general corrosion. It contains 25% chromium, 4% molybdenum, and 7% nickel, and has a 50/50 microstructure of austenite and ferrite, resulting in increased strength above ferritic and austenitic steel grades. Because of the potential of a deterioration in toughness, it is not recommended for applications that require protracted exposures to temperatures above 570 degrees F.
